I’m so excited to be able to share The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s next production – SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK— with you all!  I grew up with the music and awesomeness that is School House Rock so I’m already excited about this production…but then I heard that The Rusty Griswolds are providing music and that sealed the deal.

TCTC schoolhouse rockBased on the Emmy® Award-winning Saturday morning animated educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon which aired on ABC-TV from the 1970′s -1980′s, Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. hits the Taft Theatre stage with a rock-and-roll revue, headed up by local rock sensations, The Rusty Griswolds!  Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as “Just A Bill,” “Three is a Magic Number,” and “Conjunction Junction.”As always, TCTC will add their own twist, and make this production their own in a special way.  And I cannot wait to see it!

Do you remember the SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK songs from your childhood?

I’d say that this is a pretty good litmus test for the age of my reading audience since this show ran from the 1970′s through 1980′s.  Without dropping any actual numbers I can say that I remember the songs and cartoons pretty darn well. So, what about you? Only familiar from it’s recent resurgence in popularity?  Or do you routinely hum “Conjunction Junction” when doing the laundry?
